GSX Pro Flight Simulator Experience

Ground Services (GSX Pro) Setup and Review

As mentioned in my post about MSFS2024 frustrations, I also have some frustrations with GSX Pro.

Let me start with the positive part.

  1. Yes, it looks nice. Definitely better than in MSFS2020.
Well, that was the positive part.

Are there any negatives? You wouldn’t expect them, but there certainly are.
Downloading and installing the FSDT Installer is fairly quick. But that’s about it.
What is the difference between clicking “Update 1” and “Check”?
And if my GSX Pro is up to date, why does it perform something on both? It’s as if Windows offers the same update every time and you have to reinstall it every time! There has to be a better way.

  1. “Couatle” is also being installed. Why? What does it do? When should I start it? And when shouldn’t I?
  2. I really enjoy passenger entertainment… but why does only one passenger board an airliner? In a parking lot, I’ve only seen two airliners with more passengers boarding. Off the top of my head, one Airbus and the Boeing 747. At least, on the Boeing 747 yesterday, I initially saw over 80 passengers board. But after I had completed my detour of shutting down and restarting the engines (see post MSFS2024 FRUSTRATIONS), only one passenger boarded the 747 as well.
  3. The GSX Pro menu doesn’t launch when the engines are running. Uh, why not? Why not just launch the menu and, when you try to use a service, display a message that you can’t request services while the engines are running?
  4. In the menu, you have the option “Restart Couatl.” Nice, but that also removes the MSFS2024 animations! I was in a parking lot overlooking a highway (Schiphol Airport). There was heavy traffic on that highway. After I used the “Restart Couatl” option, the traffic suddenly disappeared. My bad, thanks!
  5. Also in the menu you have the option “Reload SimBrief” (colored red).
I don’t use SimBrief at all! If I don’t have a username in the GSX Pro settings, shouldn’t it be obvious that I don’t use SimBrief? Then this option shouldn’t appear.

All in all, GSX Pro is a nice addition to MSFS2024, if it works well… So far, I don’t think it’s worth the money!

If anyone has any suggestions, please let me know!
